It’s big news for Renault vans, with a swarm of new releases! Can you believe there’s a brand new Renault Master! Can you hear the excited screams in the crowd?!

....

I can’t hear you!!!

....

No, really I can’t hear you, is no one else excited?

Kinja'd!!!

But seriously, it always seemed to be a bit unfair that the grubby kids in the back get to live like luxury, with their massive (20 centimetre wide) picnic tables, while the one up front gets, nothing. I’ve kinda wanted something like this for a while, although how they get past the whole airbag thing is above me. Are there any other vehicles that do this?

Kinja'd!!!

The glovebox? No, that’s just pathetic.

Other features include new braces:

Gear stick ripped from an arcade machine ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ) :

And, useful in a vehicle with no rear window, a monitor instead of a rear view mirror. Which would be cooler if it didn’t look so awfully tacked on.

Kinja'd!!!

BUT, BUT, BUT RELIABILITY!

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Maybe I should change that profile picture?

But if you drop the top, you’re just eating outside. Picnics can’t be a sin

They’ll probably rebadge the new one, they always do. They always do it late though...

Looks like a nice update. I’ve racked up many, many miles in rented versions of the current generation, and they are generally pleasant. When they first came out they put the nav screen where the rear mirror went, which seemed like a nice idea, but the ones I drove never came with the SD card.

As for reliability, our (older) Masters don’t do enough miles to get a reasonable sample from, but the Trafic has racked up 85 ,000 miles of hard driving without complaint. It’s starting to feel like it could d o with some front end suspension attention, but I’d put that mostly down to the terrible road surfaces and the aforementioned hard driving.

See, I would constantly be annoying my kids/back seat riders by going through the Descent/Final Approach announcement:

“Ladies and gentlemen, as we start our descent, please make sure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright position. Make sure your seat belt is securely fastened and all carry-on luggage is stowed underneath the seat in front of you or in the overhead bins. Thank you.”
